| What is the biggest challenge facing the Village of Yellow Springs and what plans do you have to address that challenge? | ||
Our greatest challange is balancing ideas regarding socioecological concerns with growing restriction on income. A capital improvement plan would focus vision and infrastructure needs within the scope of what we can afford. Pro-active planning rather than reactivity needs to drive our decisions. Re-assessing our revolving loan fund, balancing green-space preservation with mindful land use planning, and encouraging development and incubation of small businesses are key in providing us long-term financial stability.

The Village's excellent quality of life as a small college town of great natural beauty, makes affordability a key issue. | What is the biggest challenge facing the Village of Yellow Springs and what plans do you have to address that challenge?
Our challenge is to maintain the character and viability of Yellow Springs in the face of budgetary shortfalls, job loss and expansionist pressures. We need to limit expenditures while we support the expansion of local businesses, enhance infrastructure for the arts, and collaborate with Antioch to incubate new projects. We need to promote sustainable and affordable building within the village limits, provide incentives for reduced energy consumption, and work with Antioch College in its rebirth.
