The recession has impacted our 2009-2010 budgets. Three main points are to balance the budget, maintain our excellent services, and keep city workers employed. Our proactive measure for 2009 is every department is cutting their costs by 3%. We are creating an Employee Leadership Committee to help with suggestions to cut costs. The recession is impacting West Carrollton as it is every other city. Our intent is to maintain the high level of services our residents expect (police, fire, streets) and avoid employee layoffs. Good Stewardship of taxpayer dollars must always be the first focus. Council is taking an aggressive approach to ensure that essential services continue for our residents. We have requested that departments reduce their 2010 budget requests by 3%. City Council authorized asking employees to accept a wage freeze for next year to avoid layoffs. We will also restrict travel and reduce the number of issues of the City Newsletter. Council will also look at a series of revenue enhancements. City services and jobs will be protected!

If elected to this office to serve the citizens of West Carrollton and move the city in a positive direction I have the experience it will take to influence new businesses to relocate or set up in West Carrollton thus creating reveneue and jobs also keeping our property values up. We are in a recession, cutting back on the essentials is not an option however we could cut back on such things as the traffic cameras. West Carrollton has a capable police force.
