| If the recession continues, what impact will that have on Oakwood’s budget and what proactive measures should the council be making to assure that essential services continue for Oakwood residents? | ||
A prolonged recession would have some appreciable impact on Oakwood's budget. The enduring strength of the City's school system and property values will serve to circumvent any material detriment. Long range planning, with diligent data monitoring, would proactively assist Counsel to maintain employment costs in line with the private sector. Sustaining constant communication and inviting meaningful citizen comment is the foundation for high quality services, and giving the taxpayers their monies worth.

| If the recession continues, what impact will that have on Oakwood's budget and what proactive measures should the council be making to assure that essential services continue for Oakwood residents? | ||
The recession is a temporary setback for our country and our community. I have no doubt that Oakwood will remain strong by continuing to observe the long tradition of fiscal conservatism that has seen us through many difficult times. It is the responsibility of Council to continually monitor the City's financial status and take the appropriate steps to ensure that our residents enjoy the same high quality services that we have come to expect.

| If the recession continues, what impact will that have on Oakwood's budget and what proactive measures should the council be making to assure that essential services continue for Oakwood residents? | ||
Currently, the recession is not materially affecting the city budget. Oakwood's primary source of revenue is the income tax, and 2009 collections so far this year are about 2% above those of 2008. If circumstances change, Council should look at the facts as they exist at that time and, after receiving citizen input, take appropriate action. Any measures should reflect specific citizen concerns and the desire to continue Oakwood's heritage as a premier residential community.
