| If the recession continues, what impact will that have on Miamisburg’s budget and what proactive measures should the council be making to assure that essential services continue for Miamisburg residents? | ||
Miamisburg's budget currently carries a million dollar deficit for 2009. All indications point toward at least two more difficult years ahead. Something must be done to immediately prevent this deficit from increasing to 2 or 3 million. Council needs to carefully examine every single line item, cutting unnecessary programs and reducing excessive costs. Creative ideas must be brought forth that allow essential services to continue without raising residents' taxes.

| If the recession continues, what impact will that have on Miamisburg’s budget and what proactive measures should the council be making to assure that essential services continue for Miamisburg residents? | ||
While both local income tax and state financial support have declined, Miamisburg has been successful in recruuiting new businesses. New jobs generate new income tax revenue. With the redevelopment of the Mound and the Austin Road interchange, Council must continue this economic development effort. Increasing revenue by requesting tax increases must be a last resort! Council must monitor that personnel expenses continue to be closely managed. The quality of critical services and infrastructure must remain a priority.
