| If the recession continues, what impact will that have on Miamisburg’s budget and what proactive measures should the council be making to assure that essential services continue for Miamisburg’s residents? | ||
The city is approaching a two million dollar deficit and will continue to lose revenue should the local economy not improve soon. We have taken steps to regionalize services and while that will benefit us in the long run it is imperative that we cut unnecessary spending now, not raise taxes. Working to bring new business to the city and increase our revenue will benefit us most.

The recession has a critical impact on the city budget due to the lack of new incoming revenues. Council will have to cut unnecessary expenditures and possibly delay or postpone capital improvement projects. The City/Council will continue to offer incentives to new businesses and pursue new economic development opportunities. The Austin Road Interchange development, the Mound facility re-use and Downtown Development Master plan offer great opportunities for new revenue to Miamisburg.
