If the recession continues, what impact will that have on Huber Heights’s budget and what proactive measures should the council be making to assure that essential services continue for Huber Heights residents?

Because City Council acted proactively to cut expenditures going into 2009 by over 2 million dollars the strain of a prolonged recession will be less. City Council is committed to act proactively to eliminate unnecessary spending, spur economic development and to institute cost effective ways to deliver services for the city's long term survival.

If the recession continues, what impact will that have on Huber Heights’s budget and what proactive measures should the council be making to assure that essential services continue for Huber Heights residents?

Obviously the budget would continue to be adversely affected and I would ensure fire and police functions were adequately funded and push for cuts to be made in other city services. I would seek to jointly share costs of essential services with surrounding communities. I would insist we review all planned expenditures to ensure they are essential. I would research measures adopted by other municipalities to address funding issues and adopt them as necessary.
