| If the recession continues, what impact will that have on the City of Springboro’s budget and what proactive measures should the council be making to assure that essential services continue for Springboro residents? | ||
When recession hits, everyone’s affected and everyone must tighten their belt. Springboro is no different. Certain infrastructure and services must be maintained. Springboro is well diversified in terms of employers and has over 500 companies paying income tax. Most Springboro companies are doing well, but there have been some layoffs and this needs to be monitored. We need to be very diligent in our efforts and maintain a low tax base for economic development.

As the Council reviews it's budget, they must keep the five year CIP spending to a minimum to reflect essential needs of the community. They must also keep the general fund healthy by not spending down the carryover. Once we are through the recession, the Council must consider a tax cut for its citizens by removing the income tax credit reduction they voted in without taxpayer representation.
