If the recession continues, what impact will that have on Carlisle’s budget and what proactive measures should the council be making to assure that essential services continue for Carlisle residents?

The biggest impact to Carlisle's budget due to the recession will be with the fire department. Carlisle will have to raise additional revenue, most likely a levy, within the next year to remain fiscally solvent. However I do believe people will support the need for quality fire protection. Proactively council needs to look very hard at all projects. Particularly road projects. Carlisle needs to continue in a fiscally conservative mode. www.votedennisbowles.com

The city budget is crucial to Carlisle’s future. It lets everyone see exactly how much money is available to run the city. Council members, along with the City Manager must analyze the budget to correct past problems, reduce unnecessary expenses, and work toward business and job growth all while receiving less revenue. With a responsible spending plan, service needs may be met without putting unnecessary burdens on our community or it’s citizens. Visit: www.votechadjohnson.com
