| If the recession continues, what impact will that have on the City of Trentons's budget and what proactive measures should the council be making to assure that essential services continue for Trenton residents? |
Each year, the government takes just a little more of the family budget. The average American family now pays more in taxes that they do for food, clothing and shelter combined. A strong family is one that is not overtaxed. We must reduce the tax burden on working families while constantly evaluating the budget and finding ways to provide the same services the citizens expect for less and keep Trenton moving forward. |

Our Council and I have already taken a proactive approach to the current economic downturn with our past and continuing dedication to making our budget as lean as possible. The current economic downturn will have little effect on our budget because we already have tight controls in place. We have also expanded our economic development department and purchased 175 acres of commercial property to assure future growth and improvement in our commercial tax base. |
