What is the biggest challenge facing Harmony Township and what plans do you have for solving that challenge?

Budget is our biggest problem. While enduring funding cuts our focus remains maintaining our current level of service to the township including excellent Fire/EMS response, road maintenance and repair, cemetery care, and issues relevant to our constituents. We continually look for alternate funding in the form of grants, partner with entities to receive value for our dollars, and constantly monitor expenses to make cuts where we can and make those cuts as benign as possible.

What is the biggest challenge facing Harmony Township and what plans do you have for solving that challenge?

I believe the most important issue Harmony Township is facing right now is rising costs and reduced government support. The prices for things such as asphalt and salt have risen while the amount of funding from the state has continued to decrease. As a farmer, I am faced with these same challenges. As a trustee, I would use my experience with running a farm and budgeting to come up with solutions to this issue.

Name: Tom Troxell

What is the biggest challenge facing Harmony Township and what plans do you have for solving that challenge?

The biggest challenge is the viability of the volunteer fire department and EMS. Due to the increase in rules, regulations and requirements for becoming a volunteer, it has made it much more difficult to staff these positions. The increase in equipment prices has also had an affect. If elected I plan to seek additional funding (government and private grants) for these issues and develop a closer relationship with the management in the departments. Thank you.
