What do you see as the City of Springfield’s biggest challenge and what would you do as City Commissioner to address that challenge?

Springfield's biggest challenge is attracting and retaining good-paying, permanent jobs to enhance economic prosperity. I'll encourage the Commission work with the C.I.C. and Chamber on strategies to convince current and potential employers to expand, or locate here. I'll advocate retraining and workforce development programs to help citizens transition to new jobs. I'll also encourage collaboration with Springifeld City Schools to be sure students have the quality, relevant education they need to meet new economic realities.

What do you see as the City of Springfield’s biggest challenge and what would you do as City Commissioner to address that challenge?

The City of Springfield (OH) biggest challenge will be to coordinate and incorporate the Hospital and the Educational system. Our challenge also entails securing our job base. I would address this challenge by creating a Citizen Advisory and Review Board that will act as a liaison between both the Hospital and Educational System reporting to the citizens. Making it mandatory to hire a large percentage of Springfield citizens for jobs and actively marketing Springfield.

What do you see as the City of Springfield’s biggest challenge and what would you do as City Commissioner to address that challenge ?

Springfield's biggest challenge is a flat, perhaps declining budget. We must create new jobs through collaboration and cooperation with other government entities and businesses throughout the area in order to increase our tax base. Springfield must provide an attractive environment for business, and a welcoming community. This should be done without reducing services. In the past 4 years I have worked cooperatively with numerous community groups towards these ends.

What do you see as the City of Springfield’s biggest challenge and what would you do as City Commissioner to address that challenge?

Springfield's biggest challenge is job retention and growth. Dan has encouraged regional cooperation with public and private stakeholders to capitalize on Springfield's strengths. He will continue to promote an environment that will encourage investment in the Next Edge Tech Park. He serves as Chairman of the Air Park Ohio Joint Economic Development District which has enhanced the Springfield airport and supported the Air Guard base. Dan also works to revitalize downtown by supporting infrastructure improvements.
