Car crash in Springfield

Rescue crews work to free a man after a single-car crash on Haddix Road just west of Spangler Road at 10:48 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, 2009. The driver, Richard Risner, 38, of Enon, was listed in critical condition at Miami Valley Hospital this morning, Nov. 3.

Water tank hits car

A woman was injured when a 700-gallon water tank broke loose from a trailer and struck the driver's door of her car, forcing it into a ravine on north bound I-675 at about 8:00 a.m. on Monday, November 2. The door of her car had to be cut away to extract her according to Fairborn Fire Battalion Chief David Reichert.

Escalade removed from lake

Dayton, Riverside Police and fire departments also Five Rivers MetroParks police assist in the removal of a Cadillac Escalade from Eastwood Lake in Riverside on Sunday, Nov. 1. The driver supposedly swerved to miss an animal on Route 4 and drove into the lake. The male driver escaped the vehicle and suffered minor injuries.

Pair hikes to promote parks levy

Angie Sullivan and Shane Sheldon hiked to all the 18 MetroParks, covering approximately 125 miles, to raise awareness for Issue 4, a replacement levy for the Five Rivers MetroParks. The pair finished their 7-day hike Friday, Oct. 30, 2009 when they arrived at Deeds Point MetroPark, in Dayton. They were greeted by family, friends and MetroPark employees.
