The Dayton Chapter of American Ex-POWs faced a decision on June 30th about whether to disband, as other chapters of the club have done. Ex-POW numbers are dwindling, according to federal data.

The Dayton Tea Party held a rally at the Golden Gate Park, in Brookville, on July 3, 2009. Speakers included state Rep. Jarrod Martin, R-Beavercreek and Larry Schweikart, a University of Dayton history professor who has written several books including "A Patriot’s History of the United States" and "48 Liberal Lies About American History." This group also organized a similar meeting three months ago for a Tax Day rally against the government spending at Courthouse Square.

A van smashed into the front entrance of the Dollar General Store in West Milton around 1:45 p.m. on Thursday, July 2. Officer Adam Simpson of the West Milton Police Department said the driver was pulling into a parking spot when her foot got stuck between the accelerator and the brake. The van shattered the windows on the front door, cracked the wall and the floor.
