Wright-Patterson pumpkin chuck
Spectators enjoyed watching flying pumpkins at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base on Friday, October 30, 2009, as part of the Pumpkin Chuck fund raiser for the Combined Federal Campaign. Launching contraptions on the field included a human powered wood trebuchet, a bungee powered trebuchet that launched a pumpkin approximately a quarter of a mile, and an air powered apple cannon.

Beer Fest
Photos from the first annual Miami Valley Beer Fest held at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds which featured a wide selection of craft beers and barley wines, many rare. Organizer Schwartz of Belmont Party Supply, who, with his wife Donna and his store staff, teamed up with the Resident Home Association to present the event. Proceeds will benefit Residential Home Association.

'Thriller' world record rehearsal
The dance room at the Yellow Springs Senior Center was filled Thursday night with "zombies" from Michael Jackson's song "Thriller." Dancers are rehearsing for a worldwide attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the largest simultaneous dance. The local event will take place in Yellow Springs on Saturday, Oct. 24, at 8:30 p.m. at the John Bryan Community Center gymnasium.
