Spectators enjoyed watching flying pumpkins at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base on Friday, October 30, 2009, as part of the Pumpkin Chuck fund raiser for the Combined Federal Campaign. Launching contraptions on the field included a human powered wood trebuchet, a bungee powered trebuchet that launched a pumpkin approximately a quarter of a mile, and an air powered apple cannon.

The dance room at the Yellow Springs Senior Center was filled Thursday night with "zombies" from Michael Jackson's song "Thriller." Dancers are rehearsing for a worldwide attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the largest simultaneous dance. The local event will take place in Yellow Springs on Saturday, Oct. 24, at 8:30 p.m. at the John Bryan Community Center gymnasium.
