Fairmont vs. Centerville

The Centerville High School football team beat visiting Fairmont 44-13 on Friday, Oct. 30, at Centerville Stadium. The win helped the Elks qualify for the Division I state playoffs with an 8-2 record.

Wright-Patterson pumpkin chuck

Spectators enjoyed watching flying pumpkins at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base on Friday, October 30, 2009, as part of the Pumpkin Chuck fund raiser for the Combined Federal Campaign. Launching contraptions on the field included a human powered wood trebuchet, a bungee powered trebuchet that launched a pumpkin approximately a quarter of a mile, and an air powered apple cannon.

Pair hikes to promote parks levy

Angie Sullivan and Shane Sheldon hiked to all the 18 MetroParks, covering approximately 125 miles, to raise awareness for Issue 4, a replacement levy for the Five Rivers MetroParks. The pair finished their 7-day hike Friday, Oct. 30, 2009 when they arrived at Deeds Point MetroPark, in Dayton. They were greeted by family, friends and MetroPark employees.
